Home burglaries in proximity to Friendly Hills

As you know, there have been recent home burglaries in the east part of town. We took 5 burglary reports within a close geographical area since February 4, 2016 with the last one taking place Tuesday night in the 15900 block of Carmenia Drive. We also had an attempt burglary last night off Portafino but residents were home and scared them off.  We are developing some information on suspect vehicle and will provide it shortly.  All occurred between the hours of 7pm and 9pm and entry was made through rear windows and doors. Except for the one last night, no one was home at the time of these burglaries.  The burglar(s) targeted bedrooms and took designer purses, shoes, jewelry and cash.   There have no physical evidence obtained but detectives have canvassed the area searching for any houses that may have video systems. Earlier this week, detectives and patrol staff met to formulate a coordinated game plan.  In addition to ongoing detective bureau investigative tasks (contacting other agencies/informants, etc.), the following action items were discussed and implemented:

  1. Crime bulletin will be produced and volunteers will be used for door-to-door distribution in the impacted area (attached). Bulletin will also be posted on Nextdoor.com as well as a statement from me.
  2. Dispatch will give TOP priority to any burglar alarm in the impacted area during the hours of 1800-2100.  
  3. We have undercover personnel in the area during the reported times of the burglaries.

Come help call neighbors join our annual meeting

I wanted to remind all Board Members that we will have a Call Out Night Monday February 29’th to Friendly Hills Residents.

We will meet at Coldwell Bankers Offices in Whittier (next to Trader Joe’s) at 6:30 have a bit of food and call out for about one hr… 8:00 p.m. shut down.
 
Invite Neighbors to a hosted Dinner at W.A.C.C. March 3rd from 5:30 till 6:45. Mayors Debate commences at 7:00 p.m. This is a first for Whittier and voting for the right Candidate should be important to all Friendly Hills Residents. At 7:45 we will have Friendly Hills business followed by a State of the City Address from City Manager Jeff Collier. Our meeting will end prior to 9:00 p.m..

Vehicle burglary in Friendly Hills Area

Thank you for posting the information regarding vehicle burglary prevention on the website.  I appreciate your helping us to get the word out.

We also have another area of concern that has just come to light.  Over the last approximate 24 hours, we have had four residential burglaries in the Friendly Hills area.   The locations of occurrence, time of day, method of operation, and the type of property taken suggest that it could be the same suspect.  We would like our residents to remain vigilant and to call us if they see anyone or anything that appears suspicious.  The suspect/s could be traveling on foot, bicycle or in a vehicle.     

February 4 – Reported at 1959                   8400 Block of Enramada                Suspect entered through the rear pedestrian door of the home by breaking the glass. The home was equipped with an alarm.

February 4 – Reported at 2038                   8200 Block of Seranata                   Suspect smashed rear window to gain entry to the home.

February 5 – Reported at 1943                   15700 Block of Mar Vista               Suspect climbed onto the second story balcony off the rear of the home and smashed a window smash.  The home was equipped with an alarm.

February 5 – Reported at 2015                   15400 Block of Mar Vista               Suspect climbed onto the second story balcony off the rear of the home and smashed a window smash.

Friendly Hills POA Annual meeting March 3’rd 2016

It is my pleasure to invite you to the 2016 Friendly Hills Property Owners Annual Meeting and Mayor’s Debate.
 
The Evening will begin at 6:00 p.m. with a hosted Subway Dinner served on the Church Patio.
 
This actual Event will take place at the Whittier Area Community Church at 7:00 p.m. on March 3, 2016.
 
Dr Ralph Pacheco will be acting as the Moderator for the Debate which should begin at approximately 8:00 p.m. that evening.
 
 
 
At 7:00 p.m. We will start our F.H.P.O.A. Annual Meeting. After our formal business session City Manager Jeff Collier will present the “State of the City” Presentation. Following Mr Colliers presentation, we will begin the Debate; each Candidate will be allowed two minutes to present his qualifications for the Mayor’s position, each question asked by Moderator Pacheco will also be allowed two minutes to answer each question and at the conclusion we will allow one additional minute for each candidate to close. We anticipate that the Debate will last approximately 45 minutes.
 
As you know Friendly Hills voters represent a large portion of those voting for this very important position within the City of Whittier.
