Message from President of Friendly Hills Property Owner Association

Friendly Hills Property Owners I would like to take a moment to update our Membership on issues that have been taking place on behalf of the Association:

Allan Nakken President of Fiendly Hills Property Owner Association We have been working closely Oppidan the Developer of the Board Ford Property. The site will be called the Friendly Hills Market Place with Orchard’s Hardware being the Anchor Tenant. Much of the Tenant Space has been leased and we hope to see ground breaking by Spring 2016. We have hosted two meetings for the Residents most effected by the project, those living on Janine and Oppidan has been sensitive to the needs of these residents. It would appear that we will need to move our Friendly Hills Monument Sign to better view it as this project begins. Positioning of our sign still needs to be approved by City Hall.

We have worked with Brookfieldas well with the development of the Fred Nelles Property and are pleased to be involved with this new venture. A general update was given to our Residents at our last F.H.P.O.A. Annual Meeting held last Spring at W.A.C.C. We hope to begin our Friendly Hills Monument “Light Up” within the next few weeks; as promised at our last Annual Meeting we will be lighting the majority of our Friendly Hills Signs with Solar lighting to enhance our points of entry during the evening hours. The large entry sign on Mar Vista at Catalina gets too much shade so we may have to work with the City to garner electrical power. We are planning something BIG for our next Annual Meeting. Mark your calendars now for March 3, 2016. Our event will take place at Whittier Area Church with a hosted In & Out Truck that will be serving the best Cheeseburgers in town. The formal business meeting will commence at 7:00 p.m. with dinner being served starting at 5:30.

As many of you may know the City will be changing our City Council race and will position one City Council Person in each of the Districts. When you go to the Polls to vote you will only be voting for the District 3 City Council Representative . for the first time in Whittier’s History, the public will vote for our Mayor which will be a 2 year term. In summary you will vote for Mayor and District 3 City Council Seat. I advise you of the above in order that I can alert you to this key change and ready you for our Candidates Debate which will be hosted by F.H.P.O.A. We have done this in the past and found it to be very informative. This year we are holding our Annual Meeting 30 days early to accommodate the Ballot mailing. Absentee ballots are being mailed on the day of our Debate with the actual elections being held April 12, 2016. As we approach the Holidays on behalf of the F.H.P.O.A. Board of Directors we want to wish all of our Neighbors a very happy and healthy Holiday Season. Sincerely W. Allan Nakken President Friendly Hills Property Association
